When I first started to market my private practice, I created the famous “I” saturated Psychology Today profile.
I shared my credentials, I shared my approaches to therapy, and I shared all the cool things about me. I thought, “Wow! This is a stellar profile!”
And *Crickets*
I wasn’t getting clients (or at least regularly). I wasn’t filling my practice as quickly as I wanted. And I thought to myself, “Hmm, maybe there are too many therapists in my area?”
Nope. It was 100% my Psychology Today profile.
The Simple 5-I Rule
Sure, there are lots of therapists in my area. But since that time, the only thing that has changed is how I write my profile – and I have no issues getting clients now.
When I wasn’t getting clients, I began using the 5-I rule (although, I didn’t call it that back then).
The 5-I rule is simple: Have no more than 5 I’s throughout your Psychology Today profile, which includes all variations of I’s such as “Me,” “My,” or “Mine.”
I’ve mastered getting my profile down to 3!
After implementing the 5-I rule, I’ve noticed a drastic increase in the number of client contacts that I receive.
One simple change saved my private practice!
Intrigued? Try the 5-I rule yourself to stand out and get noticed on Psychology Today. You can always switch your Psychology Today profile back if it doesn’t make a difference.
After you try it, send me a message with a small update! I’d love to hear how it works for you.
