Getting to this point wasn’t easy
Rising the ranks in the non-profit sector from frontline worker to middle management to senior leader status within the span of 4 years – I thought I was living the Canadian dream.
I was tired of constantly living an “on-call” lifestyle, requesting for time off (to only have it denied) and live pay cheque to pay cheque.
In hindsight, climbing the non-profit ladder was a means-to-end:

That was December 2020.

Because I had:
❌ Constantly overbooked myself and by the end of the day I felt completely drained
❌ Often scheduled clients on their time – not on mine – leaving me with unproductive gaps throughout my day

And worst of all, I continued to live pay cheque to pay cheque – but this time it wasn’t even consistent.
In my world, 1-to-1 sessions were either feast-or-famine.
So I tried:
❌ Decreasing my 1-to-1 clients in order to get work-life balance but then I lost income flow
❌ Increasing my 1-to-1 clients during peak seasons but I ended up burning myself out more
❌ A ‘happy medium’ working with 15 1-to-1 clients per but but I continued to hit the income glass ceiling & I still feared of not making enough money next week
And then my biggest fear happened
A family emergency happened and I had to take 3 weeks off from my business and I cancelled my 1-to-1 sessions.
My main income source completely stopped.
