The Passive Practice Resource Guide
Chapter 4: Blogging
Word Processing Software
Cellphone Word Pad and Microsoft Word
My two favourite softwares for writing blogs are the word pad on my cell phone (so that I can write on-the-go), and Microsoft Word to fine-tune and edit from my laptop.
Website
Wordpress
While there are many great website hosts, my favourite website platform is Wordpress. It has the ability to integrate various plugins that can enhance your blog optimization.
Google Search Console
Website Tool to Track Analytics & Performance
Google Search Console is a free tool created by Google to help track website traffic and performance. Each time you create a new blog post, hope into your Google Search Console and request it to be indexed. This helps get your blog on Google quicker than just waiting and hoping someday Google finds your blog on its own.
Chapter 5: Podcasting
Microphone
Yeti
Since I began podcasting, the only microphone I’ve ever used is a Yeti microphone (that you can purchase on Amazon). Usually ranging from $120 to $200 (depending on the model) it creates crisp audio. However, if this price is still a little too steep starting out, regular earphones (with a built in mic work) work just fine.
Recording & Editing Software
Descript
For my podcast recording and editing, Descript is superior to any other I’ve tried. Not only can the platform record my solo episodes directly in the platform, it also makes transcribing and editing super easy. Within Descript you can easily remove filler words, repeats, and add studio sound that adds a professional touch to your podcast.
Podcast Hosting Platform
Kajabi
Kajabi is a excellent choice for podcast hosting, especially if you are or plan to expand on your passive income streams.Â
While some podcasters may choose a niched podcasting software, I personally use Kajabi because of its versatility. Since I already use Kajabi for online course hosting, webinar registrations, and my email list, it just makes sense to have an all-in-one platform for one set fee.
One con to Kajabi though, is that it only distributes podcasts to Apple Podcast and Spotify. So if you’re hoping to distribute to other podcasting platforms, such as YouTube, Kajabi might not be the best choice.
Chapter 6: Online Courses
Course Hosting Platform & Email List Builder
Kajabi
Kajabi is my online course hosting platform of choice. What I love about Kajabi is that it grows with you. It offers online course hosting, webinar payment processing and registration, it has a built in community feature (where you can build a community away from social media), podcast hosting, and email list building – all built within a one month or annual payment.
Course Editing & Recording Software
Descript
Whether it’s editing video or audio content, Descript is my favourite editing software. It’s transcription feature makes writing summaries for participants easy; and it’s AI tools make editing a breeze.
Presentation & Graphic Design Tool
Canva
Building beautiful presentations is a must when creating an online course, and the only tool I use for presentations is Canva.
Canva not only helps create standout slide decks, it’s also a great tool for developing eye-catching visual marketing content, such as social media images. Canva offers both a free and paid plan.
While the free plan is perfect for those on a budget. Canva’s paid plan provides additional tools and images that can uplevel your presentations in a snap.
