Thinking of using Kajabi to host your podcast? Before you do read this Kajabi podcast review to answer the question “is Kajabi good for podcast hosting?”

Since I started my podcast, the Designer Practice Podcast, over a year ago I’ve been using Kajabi to host and distribute my podcast to the major podcasting platforms.

This Kajabi podcast review will give you my honest opinion about using Kajabi for podcast hosting. And I’ll breakdown Kajabi’s podcasting features including the benefits and limitations.

What is Kajabi and Kajabi Podcast Hosting?

Kajabi is an all-in-one digital product and online business platform. It allows you to host your website, manage your email list, sell online courses, memberships and coaching packages, and host your blog and podcast all in one place. Kajabi podcast hosting on the other hand is a product that Kajabi offers to help podcasters launch, host, distribute and monetize their podcast.

Benefits and Limitations of Kajabi Podcast Hosting

I’ve been using the platform for over a year now and there are definite benefits and limitations to using Kajabi as a podcast hosting platform. In the next two sections I’ll share both the benefits and limitations:

Benefits

  • Increased efficiency and decreased overall cost. As Kajabi is an all-in-one online business solution you can host your podcast along with selling your digital products and have all your marketing tools all in the one place. Having everything in one place can help with efficiency and cost as you don’t have to sign up for or into multiple accounts.
  • A quick and easy podcast setup. Honestly, the initial podcast setup couldn’t be easier. When I started the Designer Practice Podcast it only took me 45 minutes to set up in Kajabi. And most of that time was actually setting up my podcast accounts on the major podcasting platforms so I could link Kajabi for episode distribution.
  • Easy importing of an existing podcast. If you have an existing podcast on another podcast hosting platform, you can easily import your existing podcast into Kajabi with just a few clicks.
  • User-friendly. Kajabi podcast hosting is a very user-friendly platform where even the newest podcaster can get their podcast out in the world.
  • Ability to pre-schedule episodes. You can schedule your upcoming episodes in advance so that you don’t have to worry about forgetting to get your podcast distributed each week. Just press schedule and let Kajabi do the rest.
  • Tracking podcast analytics. Kajabi tracks your podcast analytics for you automatically so you can track your listener demographics, which podcasting platform listeners download your episodes, and even which devices your listeners are listening on!
  • Hosting is included in your Kajabi plan. Hosting your podcast doesn’t cost extra as it’s included in your Kajabi plan.
  • No episode limits. There’s no limit on the number of episodes you can upload to your podcast although there’s a file size maximum of 250 megabytes per episode.
  • Ability to monetize your podcast. You can monetize your podcast as a subscription-based podcast directly in Kajabi so that you can start making a profit from your podcast.

Limitations

  • Kajabi plan pricing structures. Compared to other podcast hosting platforms, Kajabi does cost more overall, especially if you do not intend to use Kajabi’s other features. However, by monetizing your podcast through Kajabi you could start making money so that hosting your podcast with Kajabi pays for itself.
  • Limited podcast distribution list. Currently, Kajabi only distributes to Apple Podcast and Spotify. Prior to March 2024, Kajabi also distributed to Google Podcast but as of April 2024, Google is shutting down its Google Podcast service and Kajabi has removed Google Podcast from its podcast distribution list.
  • Your podcast is considered a product. Although, hosting your podcast is included as a part of your Kajabi plan, it does use one of the products that’s included in your plan. So, if you have the Kajabi basic plan that includes 3 products, one of your 3 products will be your podcast.

Behind the Scenes of Kajabi Podcast Hosting

Now, I’m going to show you behind the scenes how Kajabi podcast hosting works.

First sign into your account.

Then click on products and podcasts. Any podcasts you already have created will show up or you can click on + New Podcast to add a new podcast.

Setting Up your Podcast

Under the Settings tab add your podcast title, your name, email and copyright information.

As you continue to scroll down, add your podcast language, description and cover thumbnail image.

Then add your podcast categories and accent colours then click save.

Linking to Major Podcasting Sites

Link your Podcasts RSS fed URL to Apple Podcast and Spotify.

Adding a Podcast Episode

Under the Outline tab all of your existing podcast episodes will appear or you can click on new episode to add a new episode.

Once add a new episode, at the top of the page, you can add an episode title and publishing settings.

As you scroll down you’ll be able to add the audio file and add it to Episode actions. And add your show notes which will be distributed to the major podcasting platforms. You also can add an episode thumbnail, if you want to have a different thumbnail than your podcast cover. Otherwise, you can leave it blank and your podcast cover will display as the episodes image.

Finally, you can add a transcription of your podcast to your podcast so that you can improve your podcasts SEO. Then click save.

That’s all.

Easy peasy.

Is Kajabi Good for Podcast Hosting?

My honest Kajabi podcast review is that Kajabi is a great platform for podcast hosting, especially if you are already (or intend to) build an email list or sell digital products. For me, the ease of having everything in the one place makes it so much easier to prioritize my podcast and my online business than having to navigate through various browsers or apps. Also, Kajabi’s user-friendly podcast platform makes it super easy to add and upload episodes for distribution. After using Kajabi podcast hosting, I couldn’t imagine using anything else.

However, if you intend to only host a podcast and you don’t intend to use any of the other Kajabi products, it may not be the best choice for you due to Kajabi’s reoccurring monthly cost. But if you are intending to start a website, grow an email list, create a blog, sell an online course or build an online coaching program in addition to your podcast then the cost is totally worth it (and can actually save you money in the long-run).

So, if you’re considering using Kajabi to host your podcast, I totally recommend it! Because if you’re already moving towards building your online business, then why wouldn’t you want host everything in one place?
