Create a connection with your Psychology Today Profile.

“Why am I not receiving clients through Psychology Today?”

I get this question all the time! The simple answer is:

Clients may not feel connected to your profile.

As therapists, we have zero marketing background. But honestly, your biggest asset is you. That’s right, you! The empathetic therapist who shows up on day one with your clients can (and should) show up in your Psychology Today profile as well.

I’ve learned (the hard way) that most of the common Psychology Today profile styles simply don’t work.

How do I know? Because I’ve tried them.

Create a Client-Focused Profile

Over the last year, I’ve tested several styles of Psychology Today profiles and the one that I’ve found that attracts clients the most is what I’ve coined, the Empathy-first profile, where the profile focuses on one thing – empathizing with the client.

Clients want to feel that you truly understand their struggles and that you’re the best person to help them. And of course, we both know you are! But they need to know that.

Creating a Psychology Today profile that creates connection is one that is client-focused. Of course, adding a few highlights about yourself is important (but to a minimum). When you create a client-focused Psychology Today profile, clients see that you ‘get them’ and they are more likely to reach out.

Go ahead, shine through your profile using your biggest strength, your empathy. It’s okay to be you 🙂
